International Partnerships

Field tour during the Metis National Council, 2025

Blue Forest works to empower local partners around the world to design tailored solutions at the scale their challenges demand.

Achieving landscape-scale resilience requires combining local knowledge with lessons learned elsewhere, matched with the right financial tools and approaches. Across the U.S., science-based partnerships and innovative financing vehicles like the Forest Resilience Bond (FRB) are unlocking faster, larger-scale restoration, experiences that now inform Blue Forest’s international collaborations.

Science, finance, collaboration, and innovation guide Blue Forest’s role as thought partner, facilitator, and technical advisor — offered through consulting, fee-for-service, and philanthropically-funded partnerships that help local leaders bring ambitious conservation and restoration projects to life.

International Partnerships in Action

  • Australia

    • In Australia, catastrophic bushfires and fragmented fire management across jurisdictions highlight the need for coordinated investment in landscape resilience. Blue Forest is exploring how financial innovation could scale bushfire risk reduction, biodiversity conservation, and cultural fire management — informed by engagement with conservation organizations, hazard response agencies, First Nations-led groups, universities, and financial sector partners.
  • Canada

    • In Canada, wildfires and flooding drive the greatest insured losses for residents and businesses. Blue Forest is exploring how FRB financing could scale landscape resilience and support Indigenous fire stewardship — guided by engagement with Canadian civil society organizations, impact investors, and First Nations and other governments.
  • Europe

    • In Europe, fatal wildfires and fragmented land stewardship highlight the urgent need for integrated fire management approaches. Blue Forest is working with government agencies, private sector stakeholders, and community organizations to unlock private capital for restoration and wildfire risk reduction at scale.
  • South & Central America

    • Across Latin America, forest health underpins public health, water security, and local livelihoods. Blue Forest works with the USDA Forest Service to explore outcomes-based and blended finance approaches to scale watershed protection and wildfire risk reduction through community-led stewardship, informed by local partners expanding participation in natural resource governance.
